Waylander is the name that the man once known as Dakeyras goes by. Dakeyras slowly became Waylander over the course of 20 years while hunting down the 19 raiders who raped and murdered his wife, Tanya, and killed his son, Gellan, and his twin baby girls. Some of these raiders had a bounty on their heads and Waylander would use that bounty to finance the search for the other raiders. His reputation as an assassin was so well known that when he ran out of money while searching for the other raiders, he would take assassination contracts to earn money to continue his search.

Some nicknames that Waylander has earned include Waylander the Slayer, Soul Stealer, Oxskull (a name given to him by a Notas leader), and the Chaos Blade.

Waylander's trademark weapon is a small handheld double-winged ebony crossbow that uses black iron bolts. The crossbow was built to his own specifications by a Ventrian armorer, Aries, to which Waylander paid a small fortune in opals.
