David Gemmell showed his capacity for tolerance by having two of the main characters, Finn and Maggrig, as a homosexual male couple. It is never mentioned directly within the book but there are several allusions to the idea and it would appear that Mr. Gemmell used this method to have these kinds of characters without alienating some of his fan base. Some may dispute this but the descriptions within the book leave little doubt (descriptions coming soon).
