Kai

Kai was described in the book Waylander as a large humanoid monster who was extremely long-lived (his age is unknown), was extremely strong and fast, could heal himself and others by placing his hand over the wound and concentrating, and possessed an incredible memory (it was so remarkable that Kai could actually remember his own birth as he passed through the "black red tunnel of the void").

Kai's name came from the day when he witnessed white birds flying overhead and he named himself after their cries. Kai could understand spoken language since he had heard it over his long lifetime but with no one to talk to he never mastered making the sounds themselves.

Waylander came across Kai battling wolves and although he didn't need the help, Waylander helped him. Kai returns the favor later in the book when Waylander is being pursued by Joinings and Kai comes to his aid.

Towards the end of the book as Danyal is bringing the Armor of Bronze back to the Drenai, Kai helps her reach safety.

Kai is described as being a veritable giant humanoid (head, 2 arms, 2 legs) with talons at the ends of his fingers and a single large eye with two pupils which made him have double vision. He has a mouth shaped like an upturned "V" filled with sharp teeth/fangs. There is no mention (that I have found) of Kai's skin color or whether he had a beard or even hair.
